In too many stories, strength is shown by running, fighting, or flying. But what if courage looks different?
In Tide Song, Kei’s legs don’t work the way others’ do. She struggles on land. She uses canes. But in the water—her voice carries farther than anyone else’s. Her mobility may be limited, but her power is real.
We need more stories like this. Where disability isn’t erased or magically cured, but woven into the character’s reality and strength. Where “different” doesn’t mean “lesser.”
Kei doesn’t win battles with swords. She uses her voice. Her bond with the Kopri. Her willingness to go when others turn away.
Because sometimes, the bravest thing is showing up when no one else can.
